Hebrews 5:14 teaches that mature Christians should be capable of discerning between good and evil, between true doctrine and the
doctrine of devils. The teachings included below are intended to provide the diligent truth-seeker with a thorough understanding of this topic. We at Inquisitive Christianity do not endorse all of the content included in these teachings. After all, it is a rare gift to discover a teaching with which one has no disagreement. Nevertheless, we believe that these teachings offer valuable information for those who seek the truth and are spiritually mature enough to exercise discernment.

What Is Transhumanism?

Transhumanism is an international cultural and intellectual movement with an eventual goal of fundamentally transforming the human condition by developing and making widely available technologies to greatly enhance human intellectual, physical, and psychological capacities. Transhumanist thinkers study the potential benefits and dangers of emerging technologies that could overcome fundamental human limitations, as well as the ethics of developing and using such technologies. They speculate that human beings may eventually be able to transform themselves into beings with such greatly expanded abilities as to merit the label "posthuman." British transhumanist philosopher

Dr. David Pearce promotes the idea that there exists a strong ethical imperative for humans to work towards the abolition of suffering in all sentient life. In this video, he briefly overviews the three dominant areas of transhumanism: Super longevity, super intelligence, and super well-being.

Max More: The Singularity & Transhumanism

Dr. Max More, a transhumanist philosopher, speaks into the subjects of the singularity and transhumanism in this interview.

Transhumanism 101

Transhumanism is both misunderstood and feared. Some have labeled it "the most dangerous idea."

Dr. Nathasha Vita-More is the world’s first female transhumanist philosopher.  In this interview, she attempts to bring some basic intellectual clarity on the subject by covering a wide variety of topics, such as: Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and the effect it had on transhumanism, science fiction and science in general; the negative perception and fear of transhumanism stemming from some more recent publications such as Bill Joy's  "Why The Future Doesn't Need Us" and Francis Fukuyama's  Our Post-Human Future ; Dr. More's definition of transhumanism; similarities and differences between transhuman, posthuman and cyborg; critical thinking as one of the basic tenets of transhumanism; important writings such as Max More's Towards a Futurist Philosophy, Eric Drexler's Engines of Creation and Carl Sagan's The Demon-Haunted World ; her Ph.D dissertation on human enhancement and life expansion; some of the reasons that people fear transhumanism and how to turn that around; some of her upcoming projects such as The Transhumanist Reader and H+TV as well as artistic events and conferences that she supports.

Transhumanist Manifesto

Dr. David Wood has endeavored in this video to update the "Transhumanist Declaration."  This new manifesto maintains that humanity is on the brink of a momentous leap forward in evolution. If we are wise and strong, we can--and should--make that leap.

Although a fictional film, Transcendence serves as a visual primer on the world of transhumanism. It portrays some of the promising technologies, the ambitions and motivations of transhumanists, and also the fears surrounding these technologies. The film focuses on a scientist whose drive to develop artificial intelligence leads him to upload his consciousness into one of his programs.
